Explore the Iconic Mont-Saint-Michel & the Historic City of Saint-Malo
Your day begins with an early morning pick-up at 7 AM, ensuring we arrive at Mont-Saint-Michel before the crowds. As we approach this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll be captivated by its breathtaking silhouette rising from the bay. We will start with a guided visit to the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, a masterpiece of medieval architecture perched at the very top of the island. As we explore its grand halls, cloisters, and panoramic terraces, I will share the rich history of this spiritual and architectural marvel, from its monastic origins to its role as a strategic fortress.

After our visit, we drive to Saint-Malo, the legendary corsair city with a fascinating maritime past. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to enjoy lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants, where I can suggest places to savor fresh seafood and regional specialties. The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace—whether you prefer shopping in the charming boutiques of the old town or walking along the impressive city walls, offering stunning views of the coast and surrounding islands.
Important Considerations for Your Tour
Please note that this is a full-day excursion, starting early and ending in the evening. Visiting the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel requires a significant climb, as the abbey’s church is located at approximately 80 meters (260 feet) above sea level. To reach it, visitors must navigate steep pathways, including around 350 steps from the village to the abbey entrance. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended for this tour, and comfortable walking shoes are essential to fully enjoy the experience.

A Fully Flexible Experience
Like all my tours, this excursion is completely flexible and can be tailored to your preferences. If you prefer not to visit Saint-Malo, we can instead make a stop in Bayeux to explore the famous Bayeux Tapestry, a UNESCO-listed masterpiece recounting the Norman conquest of England. Alternatively, on the way back, we can visit a traditional Calvados distillery, where you’ll learn about the cider-making process and enjoy a tasting of Normandy’s finest spirits. Whatever your interests, I will adapt the itinerary to create a personalized and unforgettable experience.
